Description
The Starting Pay ~ 56,000 annually, with the final salary determined by geographic market rate for the selected candidate.
This role will work from home (WFH), and can be located in any state within the continental United States where Rise Against Hunger currently operates.
The Role
The Content Specialist will create and edit engaging content for Rise Against Hunger’s various communications platforms including websites, blogs, social media and email campaigns. The Content Specialist will work to ensure content is accurate, relevant and aligned with Rise Against Hunger’s brand voice. Content strategies and execution will support marketing and fundraising campaigns and initiatives targeting our various audiences, including donors and volunteers, as well as our internal stakeholders. Collaborating closely with the Marketing & Communications team, the Content Specialist will help to develop targeted content strategies and communications pieces to reach our desired B2C and B2B audiences and achieve our marketing and fundraising goals.
Who Are You
Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, or related field.
- 3-4 years experience in the Communications, Public Relations or Journalism field
- Proven experience in content creation, writing and editing, with demonstrated ability to craft content for fundraising appeals
- A portfolio of published work (can include blog posts, social media posts, news articles, email newsletters, etc.)
- Keen knowledge of AP Style
- Strong understanding of SEO and content marketing strategies
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with colleagues and cross-functional teams
- Strong research skills and attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
- Ability to adapt writing style for different audiences and platforms
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Critical thinking, excellent judgment and decision making
- Excellent time management skills, works well under pressure
- Proficiency in Google Suite to include Docs, Slides and Sheets
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint
What You Will Own and Improve
60% External Communications
Conceptualize, create and edit engaging content for various platforms including websites, blogs, social media and email campaigns. Optimize content for SEO to improve search engine rankings. Proofread and edit content for grammatical accuracy and brand consistency. Monitor content performance and make data-driven adjustments. Collaborate with Marketing & Communications Team members to plan and execute our monthly editorial calendar. Support donor communications and campaigns with content, creative project development and implementation. Build and deploy Rise Against Hunger’s external, monthly e-newsletter and other marketing campaign emails.
20% B2B and B2C Content Strategy Development
Assist with the development of targeted content strategies tailored to Rise Against Hunger’s B2B and B2C audiences. B2B audience (corporate, faith, civic and other organizations) marketing strategies and campaign activations, including outbound and lead generation opportunities, may consist of email marketing, digital or traditional advertising, website, exhibits, video and more. B2C content strategies may include volunteer and donor outreach via email and direct mail appeals, drip campaigns social media campaigns, website content and more.
20% Internal Communications
Craft agendas, messaging, slide decks and content for core organizational meetings, biennial staff retreat and other sessions. Develop content, build and deploy our monthly internal employee e-newsletter. Take ownership of content updates to our employee intranet. Assist the Executive Team in creating internal communiques to address strategic, operational, crisis or other messaging as needed. Assist with the execution and facilitation of other internal communication tactics and channels

This position will work from home and can be located in any of the ~21 states in which Rise Against Hunger (RAH) currently operates. Preference will be given to qualified candidates located within the Eastern or Central Time Zones. There is a time in which this position may travel to RAH locations for strategic business meetings.
