THIS POSITION IS REMOTE and WILL WORK FROM HOME

The CPCS-Lead will assist the Coding Manager as required, acting as a resource in identifying diagnoses and procedures that affect patient visits, determining codes and accuracy of code selection and charge entry.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management or related field, OR
  • Associates degree in Health Information Management or related field plus 2 years of coding experience.
  • High School plus 4 years of coding experience.
  • Must have an understanding of CPT and ICD-10.
  • One of the following certifications: CCA, CCS, CPC, RHIT or RHIA .

Responsibilities:

  • Assist the coding manager as required and act as a resource in identifying diagnoses and procedures that affect patient visits, determine codes and accuracy of code selection and charge entry, monitor and assist with missing documentation queues, and adjust work queue assignments based on volumes;
  • Assess the adequacy of the health record documentation to ensure it supports all diagnoses and procedures to which codes are assigned, apply knowledge of anatomy and physiology, clinical disease processes, pharmacology, and diagnostic and procedural terminology to assign accurate codes to diagnoses and procedures.
  • Maintains understanding of ICD-10 and CPT coding classification systems.
  • Applies knowledge of coding to assist patient billing services to submit clean claims for medical necessity, review and select appropriate ICD-10 and CPT codes, review Reviews and performs data charge entries to both hospital and physician patient accounting systems for the outpatient clinic visit.
  • Organizes work to ensure all assigned work queues are reviewed and appropriately prioritized on a daily basis.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
