Description

We’re Craft Gin Club - the UK’s biggest spirits subscription service.

For almost a decade, we’ve been redefining the way people discover and enjoy new drinks from the convenience of their home. From our successful Dragon’s Den pitch to launching our new rum subscription and seeing our products appear on some of the UK High Street’s most prestigious shelves, it’s been quite the journey so far.

But there’s much more to come as we look to embrace new spirits, new channels and new markets through which to grow our business, and take many more drinks-lovers on a journey through the wonderful world of quality  spirits.

Delivered directly to the homes of tens of thousands of spirits lovers on a monthly basis, our flagship magazine, The Stir, plays a fundamental role in guiding our customers on this journey. Whether it’s telling the stories behind our hand-selected spirits, helping our readers discover new cocktail and food recipes, or introducing them to new skills and knowledge, it’s a highly valued part of the experience we offer.

Our magazine editor is heading off on maternity leave this year, and we’re looking for a world-class print magazine specialist to steer the ship while she’s away.

Reporting directly to our Chief Brand Officer and line-managing a talented junior writer, you will oversee the end-to-end production of our monthly publication, from managing the editorial process to briefing designers and writing features yourself.

You will have extensive experience working in the print publishing space, and will be comfortable leading the charge at every stage of the process and be bursting with ideas and the confidence to execute them to tight deadlines.

With a strong track record of producing accessible, entertaining and educational lifestyle content, preferably in the food and drink space, you’ll also be a dab hand at crafting sponsored content that engages our readers and feels like a natural fit for our brand.

As well as a CV, we would love to see examples of your work to date, be they print publications you’ve edited or articles you’ve written.

Your key responsibilities:

  • Plan, implement and own the end-to-end production of our monthly magazine.
  • Commission and edit content from internal and external contributors, mentoring junior writers on the team
  • Research and write features, interview industry experts and proof other team members’ work
  • Oversee the design of the magazine in collaboration with our in-house design team, including input into the planning of bespoke photoshoots.
  • Manage numerous stakeholder relationships across the business, ensuring the magazine supports our wider commercial objectives
  • Work closely with our Client Success team to produce compelling, high-quality advertorials that get results for clients and engage our readers
  • Own the development of our magazine content strategy as we expand our product offering
  • Manage and mentor junior writers and our network of external contributors

Requirements

  • 5+ years’ experience in lifestyle publishing (preferably food & drink), with a proven track record of managing the production of a print magazine from end to end
  • Good knowledge of and enthusiasm for the drinks industry
  • Impeccable written communication and editing skills, with experience managing an internal team and external contributors
  • Highly organised with a meticulous attention to details and deadlines
  • A natural-born storyteller, with the ability to combine disparate strands of narrative into a compelling theme or story
  • Keen understanding of our core and secondary demographics and the content types that will engage, inspire and entertain them
  • Entrepreneurial spirit, equally happy bringing lots of ideas to the table and executing on them
  • A collaborative work style, able to handle multiple and changing priorities

Benefits

  • Central London location - with hybrid working (ability to work from home up to 3 days a week)
  • 25 days holiday
  • Flexible working hours
  • Real career progression opportunities, with the chance to grow as we do
  • Dynamic working environment in our small and dedicated team
  • Regular social events
  • Weekly gin tasting
  • Generous staff discount on our online store
