Job Description:

Position Summary: Provides interactive and motivational orientation to HRA CareerCompass participants in-person and remotely, including administering and scoring assessment tests. Assists in providing additional workshops including job preparation, sector-based overview and instruction, job search assistance, on-line applications and resume preparation. The Orientation Facilitator works to develop and enhance clients' work-related skills in preparation for job placement or other engagement activities in the HRA Career Pathways model.

Responsibilities:

  • Facilitates daily motivational orientations for newly referred HRA CareerCompass clients by offering in-person and remote services.
  • Conducts orientation and workshops utilizing prepared curricula and appropriate materials, integrating vocational concepts and professionalism in a classroom setting. Conducts interactive facilitation allowing for questions, comments and discussion from clients.
  • Supports in conducting workshops on self-assessment and introduces on-line tools that are used in a group setting. Assessments workshops topics include interest, skills, values, etc.
  • Assists with job readiness workshops for program participants on such topics as: resume preparation and writing, introduction to business sectors, online job applications and follow up, job search tools, using email, interviewing skills, workplace ethics, soft skills and business conduct, networking and financial literacy.
  • Maintains contact with Career Service Coordinators (CSC) to transition clients to the one-on-one intake process immediately following orientation.
  • Supports in administering and scoring the TABE Test, BEST Test and Best Literacy.
  • Maintains and executes documentation, case notes and workflow through computer-based programs and technology that draws on basic software/computer skill set.
  • Accurately creates labels and folders daily for all clients enrolled in the CareerCompass Program.
  • Attends and participates in meetings, staff development sessions and in-service training as assigned.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma required with at least 3 years related work experience; Bachelor's Degree in education, vocational rehabilitation or social-service related field preferred.
  • Bilingual Spanish speaker required.
  • Some prior professional experience working within a community-based organization or the government sector, directly serving an under-resourced population required; experience working with public assistance population preferred.
  • Excellent platform skills with the ability to motivate and engage clients.

Salary: $41,000/year

Schedule: 4 days on site, 1 day remote after successfully working 30 days

Program Overview: NADAP's CareerCompass, one component in HRA's initiative to address the unique needs of improving employment and training outcomes in NYC, provides orientation, comprehensive and individual employability assessments and service coordination for adults 25 years of age and older. As the first step in HRA's programming, CareerCompass will identify and connect individuals to an education, training and/or employment track.
