About the opportunity

We are seeking a talented Principal Software Engineer to join our growing team and play a key role in designing, developing, and maintaining product features of our Identity Security Platform. In this leadership role, you will not only contribute your technical expertise but also guide and mentor junior engineers, fostering a collaborative and innovative environment. You Will:  

• Design, develop, and maintain backend services and APIs for our Identity Security Platform, ensuring high performance, scalability, and reliability.
• Lead a team of backend software engineers, providing mentorship and guidance to help them grow their skills and expertise.
• Drive the technical direction for assigned products, defining architecture, design patterns, and best practices.
• Collaborate with product managers, software engineers, UX designers and security experts to define requirements and architect solutions that meet business objectives and security standards.
• Continuously optimize and improve the performance, security, and scalability of the platform through code reviews, testing, and refactoring.
• Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies in Identity Security, and leverage them to drive innovation and improve our platform.

You Have:

Education:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

Experience:

• 10+ years of experience as a backend software engineer with a strong track record of building and maintaining high-quality, scalable software systems.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in a leadership role within a software development team.
• Strong proficiency in one or more object-oriented programming languages, such as Go, Java, or Python.
• Experience designing and implementing RESTful APIs and microservices architectures.
• Experience building very large, complex distributed systems that require 100% up time.
• Knowledge of database technologies (SQL and NoSQL) and caching mechanisms.
• Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies, such as Docker and Kubernetes, is a plus.
• Experience working in a high paced startup environment is a plus.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

At Veza, your base pay is one part of your total compensation package. For this position, the reasonably expected pay range can be discussed with your recruiter for the level at which this job has been scoped. Your base pay will depend on several factors, including your experience, qualifications, education, location, and skills. In the event that you are considered for a different level, a higher or lower pay range would apply. This position is also eligible for equity and a competitive benefits package.
