About the Role

Title: Senior UX UI Designer

Location: Wyoming United States

Job Description:

The Senior UX/UI Designer leads UX/UI teams on Gordon Food Service digital products. They are advocates for users and customers in our product development process through strong design skills and demonstrated leadership ability.

Our senior designers are UX/UI experts. They have deep design knowledge and experience and demonstrate proficiency in multiple areas across the design discipline - including UX research, wireframes, low- and high-fidelity visual design, animation, prototyping, design systems, accessibility, design documentation, and user testing. They are deeply knowledgeable about the ever-changing UX industry, keep up-to-date on UX design best practices, and advise the digital leadership team on tools and practices as appropriate. Above all, they lead teams that deliver quality work using knowledge of user experience (UX) principles and user interface (UI) designs.

Our senior designers are project leaders. They are organized, self-motivated and navigate ambiguity well. They will work side-by-side with customers and our research partners to understand customer behavior, and with Product Owners, and IT teams to understand business and technical goals, balancing these to deliver work that wins for all. Our senior designers are capable time managers who can estimate work and manage roadmaps. They align on goals and anti-goals with product and IT teams through daily discussion, and lead them in activities like workshops and design thinking. They ensure that our team's output is organized and well-documented. They understand the big picture and ensure consistent experiences for our users across products.

Our senior designers support the growth of their team members through mentorship and coaching. They support their team through design reviews and constructive feedback, and they contribute to team culture of mutual success and support.

When you will work:

Hybrid Schedule 4 days in office 1 day work from home in either Wyoming, MI, Atlanta, GA or Chicago, IL.

What you will do:

  • Design & review optimal user interactions for new and existing products and services, websites, and marketing assets collaborating with other UX/UI designers, product, marketing, SMEs, stakeholders and IT.

  • Create, deliver, review, and curate wireframes, interaction outlines, mockups/storyboards, and interactive prototypes to communicate the experience design to stakeholders.

  • Ensures timely delivery of reviewed mockups, assets, and customer validation to IT to implement the design directly.

  • Lead workshops & design thinking activities to inform product managers, owners, and stakeholders how user goals align or conflict with business goals.

  • Govern existing products and services experience design to ensure they adhere to GFS accessibility and design standards.

  • Lead project estimation and work plan definition for UX design and research tasks.

  • Provide constructive feedback on the approach, deliverables, and presentations for the associate and UX/UI designers.

  • Performs other duties as assigned

What you'll bring to the table:

  • Manages the workload and work assignments of other UX project team members and contractors while staying conscientious of individuals' strengths, weaknesses, and goals and playing to these when managing work assignments

  • Collaborating with development and/or product leads on scope and definition

  • Works effectively with the other leads on a project (product, dev, etc) to lead collaboratively

  • Expertise in deconstructing complex problems and turning them into engaging and streamlined customer experiences that are mutually beneficial for the business & customer on any digital device or multi-screen journey

  • Extensive experience in using UX design best practices and advanced UX topics (affordance, touch ergonomics, cognitive load, ethnography, etc.) to design solutions, and a deep understanding of mobile-first and responsive design

  • Ability to communicate and present the user journey via slides or prototype to gain alignment on an approach

  • Proactively seeks ample feedback naturally to inform the design ensuring awareness & alignment

  • Champion of collaboration across silos.

  • Takes ownership of deliverables and documentation to ensure accuracy and that they are up-to-date for self-service by other teams

  • Ability to facilitate project or feature kickoffs to reduce ambiguity.

  • Expert in user-centered design methods and techniques

  • Expert storyteller than can show a customer problem was meaningfully solved by the design solution and the decision path that was taken to arrive there.

  • Working knowledge of service design and the business constraints of operational barriers and human support structures

  • Naturally and frequently validates features with customers to ensure quality

  • At least 5 years experience designing for different devices and working with IT & UX teams highly preferred.
